Ivan Safronov, a military specialist, journalist, fell out of his window. The journalist who has been critical of the Russian government, returned to his appartment after shoping for oranges. Mysteriously - he fell from his fourth floor stairwell. The Russian authorities were so quick to label it as "suicide." But the reporters' colleagues at the newspaper Kommersant said that not only he was not suicidal, but he had been preparing a scoop regarding Russia's plans to sell missile and fighter jets to Iran.

President Musharraf appologies ...
President Musharraf appologies for the violent tactics of the police against GEO TV journalists. While the leading television network in Pakistan was broadcasting live images of the protest (regarding suspending a chief judge), the police fired rubber bullets and tear gas in attempt to knock out the GEO's cameras.
Video footage showed the police smashing in windows and doors, inside the building. However GEO's executive are proud to announce that the media has not given up! An editorial of one of the leading Pakistani papers said: "March 16, 2007, will go down as a black day in the history of this country as far as press and media freedom is concerned."

In Turkey:
Three employees of a publishing house, distributing bibles were butchered on April 18th, 2007. The three victioms - a German and two Turks were found with their hands and legs bound at their publishing house in the city of Malatya. Five people were arrested right afterwards.

Garry Kasparov, the former chess world champion, who is one of the Kremlin's biggest critics, demands an inquiry regarding his Freedom of Speech. Kasparov was taken into custody on April 14th. He was released after several hours. No charges were pressed against him. The authorities blamed him for giving "an inflamatory interview."

Look for Sicko... Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has confirmed reports that he is protecting Michael Moore's latest movie Sicko. The Oscar winner's latest documentary is an expose on the US Health Care System. Moore is under investigation by the the US Treasury Department Office of Foreign Assests, for the part he was shooting in Cuba. But Weinstein who had refused to surrender the tapes says: "the film has been placed in a secret location outside the country..."
